Mom's Spaghetti

This. One.

We got alllllllll ready a few nights ago we had some grand plans and then they fell through. It is kind of funny life feels like that a lot. Grand plans that fall through. It was okay though we went to a yummy restaurant and enjoyed each others company. After we all climbed in my bed, I peeled off my fake eyelashes, which were a left over pair I had found from Halloween. I tossed my heels into the donate pile as they were so uncomfortable I couldn't even walk in them and we laughed and talked and Ellie repurposed those ole' lashes. She cracks me up. The lesson learned is plan B is sometimes the best plan and you can turn anything into something fun. I love my kids and am so lucky to be their Mom.

Let's talk about Mother's Day.

I dread Mother's Day every year. Utterly. DREAD. I have no expectations and usually just try to do some things that I like to do. One of which is nap. Which my kids gave me a hard time about on Mother's Day and said that is all I do. I said, really?? Who works all day, and then cooks dinner, cleans up, does some laundry, tutors at 10:30 pm at night, Saturday, and Wednesday nights? WHO? They were like yeah but you always go lay down when you get home from work for a little bit. Then Aydan said, "I work all day too." Oh brother. Just wait. JUST. WAIT.

I have to say that this was probably the best Mother's Day I have had in ages. My kids donned chocolate covered strawberries and a gift card for a manicure. They did all the dishes and swept. My brother in law, Jared cooked us all dinner and it was so yummy! I didn't even have to cook or help cook it was amazing! We played a game as a family and then T and I went to downtown Mesa and walked around to see the art exhibit. Which, if you know me well is right up my alley. He had my car washed, and filled the propane tank to my grill and for some reason those things were the best things ever. It made me happy.

I am so lucky to have my wonderful Mom. She does so much for us and always wants the best for us. She is a great support and listening ear. I love my Mom.

I helped the kids in my class make each of their Mom's a corsage for Mother's Day. Are corsages a thing anymore? I didn't really notice on Sunday...mostly because I was so nervous to lead the Primary children in their Mother's Day song in front of everyone. When I was a little girl all the ladies had corsages on at church and for some reason I think that is what a Mom should have for Mother's Day. The kids in my class loved coming over to help me make these and I loved it because it gave me a couple minutes to chat with each one individually. I hope their Mom's liked them. They were so happy to have something to give and that made me so happy.

It was Ellie's Spring Sing tonight. She is just the cutest. I love watching her sing. Mr. Rittenhouse our music director is amazing! It was a Disney theme this year. Ellie and I were running a whole bunch of errands before the concert tonight when Lose Yourself by Eminem came on. It sparked a long conversation about why the lyric Mom's spaghetti is in the song. There's vomit on his sweater already, Mom's spaghetti. He's nervous, but on his face looks calm and ready......Why do you think spaghetti is important to the song, or to him and why mention that it is Mom's spaghetti.....good times.

I finally got home at 9pm tonight. I miss my home. I love my home. There were a lot more happenings going on in between work and home but I'll spare you the boring details and leave you with this. I decided to get in the tub. I wanted to listen to something relaxing I thought..maybe Sarah Maclachlan? I haven't listened to her music in years....I pull it up on apple music. I get in the tub and the song Angel comes on and all I can think of is sad dogs with flies around their eyes and ribs poking out of their sides and maybe one missing a leg. A three legged dog. Have you seen that sad public service announcement commercial?

Don't eat Mom's spaghetti before going onstage to drop bombs. XOXO- The Sunny D
